Binge by Tyler Oakley
“I was taught that being myself was not only okay, but encouraged—and by being unapologetically yourself, you thrive and inspire others to thrive.” – Tyler Oakley, Binge
You probably too old for YouTube or come from other planet if you don’t know who Tyler Oakley is.
He is 26 years old video blogger and has been on YouTube for over 8 years now, and I think I already spend my 4 years watching his YouTube channel. His channel is different, you feel like having your best buddy around when you watch it. No matter how I feel, sad or happy, all of his videos just made my day. But I do understand that his videos are not for everyone.
Not only about his videos on YouTube, his journey is inspiring too. Only 26 years old Oakley already achieve so many young people could ask for (and I feel sorry somehow to my-24-years-old-self, lol). The way he influence ‘his people’, charity, meet many famous people, just, ugh. Amazing.
As a fans of him, I was so excited when he finally launched his first book ‘Binge’. It is a compilation of Tyler’s stories, but those which he never shared online to his audience of 7 million in all his 8 years of Youtube. This arose curiosity amongst his fans and as soon as pre-order went up everything went insane. Even months before the release date, his book went to number one in various online stores. But you have no idea how long I have to wait to get this book in Indonesia, lol
I was planning to order this book online and after considering the shipping fee from the USA, hhhmmm… I just wanna wait ’til this book arrive at Jakarta’s bookstores. And yes, I was too excited when I finally found this book here (I know it’s too late already, but better than never right?)
So yesterday, my best one gave a surprise after listening to my-all-day-complaining-about-some-stuff. I was freaking out and speechless. Just start to read it but pretty sure I am going to finish it super soon.
I’ve read some pages, his books have surprise elements that make the reader want to scratch their head really hard. So, if you don’t know Tyler Oakley and you want to, I suggest the book is perhaps the best way to get to know him.
This book is autobiographical which means that he wrote about his real life story. Life stories are generally insane and in Tyler’s case it is no different. He talks about everything which makes this book special and very overwhelming, in the best way possible. I cannot wait to finish it!
